Australian Cotton Trade Show

Twenty five years ago the inaugural Australian Cotton Trade Show was launched in association with The Australian Cottongrower magazine at Moree in north-west New South Wales. At that that time, we could justifiably describe Moree as the ‘centre’ of the very vibrant Australian cotton industry.
The vibrancy in the industry is still very much there, but over the last decade the limits of production for our industry have been significantly altered.

Cotton farming has headed south, through the Murrumbidgee and over the Murray into Victoria and north to Far North Queensland.

The southern expansion coupled, with the enthusiasm of all involved, saw Cotton Australia’s Cotton Collective; the Cotton Industry Awards; and the Australian Cotton Trade Show come together and stage a joint event at Griffith in July 2017 and again in 2019.

Following consultation with growers, exhibitors and key industry bodies – and drawing on the very successful biennial Australian Cotton Conference model – a ‘mini’ conference had gone on the road. Growers, consultants, researchers, processors and service providers from across the cotton industry were invited to Griffith – and they were particularly pleased with the outcome.

Planning got underway for the 2021 Cotton Trade Show/Cotton Collective to be held in Toowoomba – unfortunately, as with so many other planned events at this time, we had to cancel.

We are looking towards Toowoomba again in 2023 – we will keep the industry posted.
