Allan Williams grew up on a cotton farm near Wee Waa and has extensive experience in the cotton and R&D sectors, having worked in both the Australian and international cotton industries for almost 30 years. Allan joined CRDC as a Research and Development (R&D) Manager in April 2012 and was appointed General Manager R&D Investment in June 2019. Prior to this, Allan’s roles included Senior Agronomic Advisor for the global Better Cotton Initiative, Executive Officer for the Australian Cotton Growers Research Association, Executive Officer for the then Cotton Consultants Australia (now Crop Consultants Australia), and a lawyer for the firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques. During his time with ACGRA, Allan was responsible for the development of the BMP Program – the predecessor to myBMP.
Since 2006, Allan has also held the position of Chair of the International Cotton Advisory Committee’s (ICAC’s) Expert Panel on the Social, Economic and Environmental Performance of Cotton. He is currently co-Chair of the industry’s Sustainability Working Group. Allan holds Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Law (Hons) degrees from the University of Sydney, is a graduate of the Australian Rural Leadership Program, and has been a finalist in both the Australian Cotton Industry’s Researcher of the Year and Service to Industry Award.
