Trudy Staines is a Narrabri local, growing up on a farm in the area. She has worked at the Australian Cotton Research Institute for 28 years, mainly as a technical officer with CSIRO working on research related to IPM. For the past decade Trudy has also worked in a role that develops capacity in the cotton industry by inspiring students of all ages to engage through transfer of knowledge and hands on experience. Passionate about IPM especially relating to insects and being part of the solution that helps our industry be more sustainable and environmentally friendly, Trudy is excited about educating people to appreciate what science and agriculture has to offer especially the opportunities in cotton linked to future technology and its application.
