Wednesday August 08 at 2:00 pm
Ian and Georgina Gourley own and manage their family farming business, established by his family in 1966. Ian returned to the business in 2000 and has worked as a grain producer for the past 17 years. Before coming home Ian worked as a commodity trader in both grain and protein meals and has a keen understanding of local and international grain markets. Ian is passionate about improving the logistics of grain movements in Australia and maintaining Australia’s strong reputation as an international wheat exporter.
Their main crops include canola, chickpeas, dryland cotton, faba beans, sorghum and wheat. Constantly looking for ways to fine tune his business Ian is interested in better pricing options and logistics like improved access to rail and freight networks. Ian is the chair of the Dryland Cotton Research Association, is a member of Grain Growers National Policy Group, sits on the boards of other farming businesses and does Agripath benchmarking. Ian has also completed the Rabobank Executive Development Program.
