In her policy work with Cotton Australia, Jennifer Brown focusses on energy and environmental management (mining, coal seam gas, and natural resource management) to foster policies that reflect growers’ needs. She also co-chairs the Sustainability Working Group that oversees implementation of the cotton industry’s PLANET. PEOPLE. PADDOCK. sustainability framework. Jennifer’s advocacy work for Cotton Australia’s members includes nationally via agricultural industry bodies as well as engaging industry organisations and government, primarily across New South Wales and Queensland. In relation to energy, Jennifer advises on electricity network distribution topics relevant to NSW Cotton Australia members and their communities via her membership of Essential Energy’s Customer Advisory Group. The water and energy nexus has also led to a number of energy related projects in partnership with Queensland Farmers’ Federation and the NSW Irrigators’ Council.
