Meet Us Down at Innovation Alley

As the anticipation builds across the industry for the 2022 Australian Cotton Conference, CRDC is planning a new initiative – Innovation Alley.

Ruth Redfern, CRDC’s Executive Manager Communications, has been leading the development of the concept with the teams from Conference and growAG, the innovation marketplace established by AgriFutures Australia on behalf of the 15 Research and Development Corporations (RDCs) and the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment.

“Attendees at the 2018 conference will remember Startup Alley, where we hosted 12 startups with relevance to cotton,” Ruth said.

“We also ran ‘pitch from the paddock’ where each of the 12 pitched to conference attendees and a panel, chaired by Shark Tank shark, then Queensland’s Chief Entrepreneur, Steve Baxter. This year CRDC, the Conference and growAG are bringing back this concept and have gone a step further to create Innovation Alley – where innovations and technology that CRDC and our fellow RDCs have funded will be showcased.”

Innovation Alley will host 12 innovators, including for example GoannaAg and the spray hazard towers – the largest single investment that CRDC has ever made. The 12 will also have their own session in the Conference agenda, where they will pitch their innovations and technologies to growers.

“All the projects, innovations and technologies showcased in Innovation Alley will have the potential to hugely benefit growers and the wider cotton industry.  We are really looking forward to showcasing the exceptional creativity and innovation of people that the cotton industry draws, through our investments,” Ruth said.

Those attending Conference 2022 will find Innovation Alley in the Conference trade hall.
