The NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) plays a key role in driving economic growth through research and innovation to improve resilience, productivity and sustainability. Drawing on the expertise of more than 600 scientific staff and utilising over 13,000 ha of trial farms around NSW, DPI is ranked in the top 1% of research organisations globally in the fields of agricultural and plant science. Our R&D programs aim to:

- increase and maintain market access for primary industries
- drive innovative and strategic policy solutions for primary industries
- increase the capacity of agriculture to respond to risks and change
The Water and Irrigation unit of NSW DPI deliver R&D and policy services that increase water productivity and improve the resilience of water users across NSW agricultural industries.
