Australian Cotton Trade Show
Twenty years ago the inaugural Australian Cotton Trade Show was launched in association with The Australian Cottongrower magazine at Moree in north-west New South Wales. At that that time, we could justifiably describe Moree as the ‘centre’ of the very vibrant Australian cotton industry. The vibrancy in the industry is still very much there, but over the last decade the limits of production for our industry have been significantly altered.
Cotton farming has headed south, through the Murrumbidgee and over the Murray into Victoria.
This southern expansion coupled, with the enthusiasm of all involved, saw Cotton Australia’s Cotton Collective; the Cotton Industry Awards; and the Australian Cotton Trade Show come together and stage a joint event at Griffith in July 2017.
Following consultation with growers, exhibitors and key industry bodies – and drawing on the very successful biennial Australian Cotton Conference model – a ‘mini’ conference had gone on the road. Growers, consultants, researchers, processors and service providers from across the cotton industry were invited to Griffith – and they were particularly pleased with the outcome.
Following the 2018 Cotton Conference, planning will get underway for the 2019 Cotton Trade Show – the industry will be kept advised.
