David Wiskar is the Executive Director for Water Policy in the Department of Natural Resources Mines and Energy.
For the past 20 years he has worked for State and Local Government in a range of areas including sustainable development, water pricing and environmental economic reforms. David was part of the Executive Leadership team that created Queensland’s first Corporatized Water business with Wide Bay Water Corporation. At Wide Bay Water David was responsible for the delivery of significant water innovations including; the creation of Australia’s first fully smart metered city, an award winning water recycling scheme and the implementation of large scale water loss management projects throughout Australia and internationally in China, the South Pacific and Malaysia.
During his career has held a number of key leadership positions in the Water Industry including;
- Founding Chair Queensland Water Directorate
- Queensland President (and National Board member) – Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA)
- Founding Chair – Queensland Water Industry – Skills Formation Strategy
For the Queensland Government David leads Queensland response in the Murray Darling Basin and has overseen the recent independent Audit into water measurement and compliance.
