DUNCAN Sam

Sam Duncan is an avid entrepreneur and technologist from Armidale, NSW. He started his career introducing new technologies for Air Force in 2006, and since then has been managing large scale software projects for government. In 2013 he cofounded Optishift to improve fleet and fatigue management for the Australian trucking industry and in 2014 he went on organise TEDxUltimo. Sam’s passion for agriculture drove him to look at the inefficiencies in soil management across Australian agriculture, and this led him to founding FarmLab in 2016.

Farmlab gives farmers and agronomists a simple online service to request a soil test from any lab, then receive and analyse the results. Users can access soil data via the cloud, or export it to their existing farm management system. This means less time spent at the computer searching through PDF and excel soil reports, and more time spent in the field. Farmlab works with major research organisations and institutions to ensure growers receive the latest innovations when it comes to soil and land management tools and techniques, and to improve soil intelligence for the cotton community.
