Sharon Downes studied Helicoverpa spp. for the past 15 years to help develop strategies for managing its resistance to Bt-cotton as part of an IPM approach. With the recent invasion of this pest into the Americas, her focus shifted toward a global perspective that informs Australia’s local agricultural industries about potential threats based on happenings elsewhere in the world.
